Alosha, the oldest of the brothers, married Parania Verigin in Azerbaijan. He rejected a military call in 1895 and as a result he was put in jailed. Alosha and Parania had three sons, Nick born in 1893, Peter born in 1901, and Wasyl born in 1909.
At Khutor, Alosha held a leadership role in the running of affairs. His duties included the allocation of work, finances, problem solving, decision making and generally carrying out the orders of their leader P. V. Verigin.
