Anyuta was married to Nikoali Timofeyevich Chernoff, who died while on route to exile in Siberia in 1897. Widowed, she brought her six sons to Canada in 1899.
Anyuta worked with her sons to run the Khutor farm, she was a mother, an advisor, a mediator, a midwife, and a respected member of the community.
